Press Release for Kyle Subway
Robert and Darlene Ecoffey are riding the “Subway of Success” of their thriving Pine Ridge Subway to opening another franchise in Kyle. The Ecoffey’s opened the Pine Ridge Subway in August of 2008 and it has exceeded their expectations in first year sales. With that success Robert and Darlene believe the time is ripe to branch out to another community on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. The Ecoffey’s believe Kyle will be the ideal location with their population base and the main campus of Oglala Lakota College. Projected opening for the Kyle Subway is middle August of this year. The Lakota Funds will be providing financing for the opening of the Kyle Subway as it did for the Pine Ridge Subway.

The Kyle Subway will be located in the Lakota Trade Center. The site will need significant reconstruction to provide access for customers but Mr. Ecoffey stated, “it will be considerably more cost effective to renovate an existing site rather than build a storefront from ground up as we did in Pine Ridge”. The Kyle Subway will create approximately 8 full-time and 12 part-time jobs in the Kyle area. Job applications may be picked up at the Lakota Funds office in Kyle.
The Ecoffeys’ believe economic development on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation is the key to producing and maintaining self-sufficiency by creating jobs and wealth. Robert states “by also providing goods that are affordable and accessible to the people within the boundaries of the Reservation there will be a greater likelihood of keeping our dollars generating within the confines of the Reservation”.
The Lakota Funds operates by the same mission and is pleased to support the Ecoffey’s Kyle Subway.
