Oyate Woableza Otipi Project (The place of understanding the people)

Oyate Woableza Otipi Project will develop and implement two new loan products customized to fit community needs to be offered by Lakota Funds in 2006. The project will develop and improve Lakota Funds loan and investment policies, and improve the overall lending process.

OWOP will move the Lakota Funds to a new organizational level and significantly enhance the group's ability to facilitate social and economic development on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

Successful implementation of OWOP will result in the accomplishment of many of the five year goals outlined in Lakota Funds community plan, Lakota Vision 2020.

The project will substantially increase Lakota Funds ability to carry out its five year customer goals:

  • 1,000 business consultations
  • 75 business start ups
  • 75 business expansions
  • 300 business owners and staff trained
  • Network with 25 professional Technical Assistance Providers

The Oyate Woableza Otipi Project will create Lakota Funds partnerships to mentor business expansion, including lending, technical assistance and other resources.

This project was made possible by a grant from:
