Murdock Electric Incorporated works with Lakota Funds
Murdock Electric, Inc., located in Pine Ridge, SD has recently obtained additional financing from the Lakota Funds for business expansion. Lakota Funds previously supplied capital to Murdock Electric for the construction of their current shop building in Pine Ridge. Frank Murdock Sr. started Murdock Electric over twenty-five years ago, working from the back of his service truck. In twenty-five years, Murdock Electric, Inc. has grown from the bed of a pick-up truck to a modern 40' x 80' facility with over twenty employees.

Frank Sr.'s wife, Marjorie, became the company's business manager last year. Murdock Electric, Inc., has two major sources of income -- HVAC services and the electrical department. The heating ventilation air-conditioning division is responsible for the installation and service of furnaces and air conditioning equipment. Murdock’s currently have five certified HVAC personnel. The electrical department takes care of the service calls and electrical contracting. Murdock Electric has three Journeymen on staff with five other employees in the process of becoming certified. According to Frank Jr. there are eleven apprentices working for the company and they are always looking for individuals, who are serious about starting a career with Murdock Electric, Inc.
Murdock Electric in their growth and expansion has begun to contract jobs off the Pine Ridge Reservation. They recently completed work on a four story hotel in Sturgis, SD. Frank Jr. stated they "started and completed the project employing only Native Americans." Frank Jr. also said "Murdock Electric is proud to be a Native American owned business with one hundred percent Native American employees." Marjorie stated that "I support Lakota Funds and believe it is a benefit to the reservation for people to start their own businesses here.
